Led by SACEM, this plenary examines the importance and evolution of copyright in the live music industry.

Le live est au cœur de la vie culturelle et sociale, offrant des expériences uniques qui marquent nos mémoires collectives. Mais dans un secteur en pleine transformation – entre les tentations de certains pour la licence directe qui interrogent le modèle de gestion collective, et le défi de soutenir les artistes tout en préservant la diversité musicale – de nombreuses questions émergent. Les licences directes remettent en question les modèles traditionnels de gestion collective et bouleversant les équilibres établis.

Dans ce contexte en pleine mutation, les acteurs du secteur doivent relever un double défi : garantir une rémunération équitable et durable pour les artistes tout en préservant la diversité musicale. Les intervenants apporteront leurs éclairages sur ces enjeux cruciaux et partageront des solutions concrètes pour l’avenir de la création musicale live.

Director of International Affairs at Sacem

Caroline Champarnaud is International Director and a member of the Sacem Management Committee.

Caroline Champarnaud manages all of Sacem's international activities across the board, in order to maximize the income of its members, from all over the world, and its partners.

Since 2016, Caroline Champarnaud has been Director of International Development at Sacem. In this capacity, she has been managing Sacem's relationships with foreign authors' societies for several years and in particular with those who have entrusted Sacem with an online rights management mandate (Ascap, United States, United States, Socan, Canada, and Komca, Korea). She previously headed the phonographic and digital rights department, where she negotiated the first mandates with international publishers and licenses with key digital players in France and around the world.

As part of Sacem's international development, Caroline and her teams advise and develop various partnerships in the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Cécile Rap Veber
Managing Director, Sacem

Cécile Rap-Veber holds a master's degree in contract law and private international law and the Certificate of Aptitude for the Legal Profession (CAPA) from the Paris Bar.
A lawyer at the Paris Court of Appeal, she joined Universal Music France in 2000 where she was Director of Legal & Business Affairs, then Director of Universal Music Consulting & Content (UMCC) until 2013.

She joined Sacem in 2013 as Director of Licences and a member of the Executive Committee. In 2016, she saw her responsibilities extended internationally, in 2019 to Operations and then in 2020 to Development.
In these various positions, she was in charge of negotiation and collections relating to media, phonographic and video supports, digital operations, private copying and international transactions. She manages the management of the Sacem repertoire and the distribution of the copyrights collected relating to the exploitation of works from the Sacem repertoire in France and abroad. She was also responsible for the development and management of online mandates brought to Sacem by Anglo-American publishers, including UMPG, Wixen, Impel, Wise Music, and initiated and supervised the deployment of the global digital data processing and BI platform called “URights”.
Cécile Rap-Veber is also the Managing Director of the Society for the Administration of Mechanical Reproduction Rights (SDRM) and was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Copie France from 2022 to 2024, before holding the position of Vice President between 2020 and 2022 and then since July 2024. She is also President of the Franco-American Cultural Fund (FCFA), a member of the Board of Directors of Cisac (International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers) and of the National Music Center.

Christian Seitz
Live licensing manager, Gema

Christian Seitz has been at the head of the “Licensing and Distribution of Performing Rights” unit in Munich since 1 May 2021. In his role as director, he is responsible for licensing nationally for all public uses of music as well as for the correct distribution of live events to GEMA and other OCM members around the world. In addition to his responsibilities at GEMA, Christian is the managing director of deecoob.
Deecoob is a service provider for CMOs that allows them to obtain qualified leads for licensing.

Christian started his career at GEMA in 2007 as an intern and initially worked in various relevant areas of the company. In 2016, Christian was appointed Director of Licensing and has since been responsible for operational licensing for public music nationally.

Christian studied business administration and economics at the universities of Regensburg and Madrid.

Louis Dampenon
Production Director, Live Nation France

Louis Dampenon is Production Director at Live Nation France, the world leader in concerts and live entertainment. With more than 10 years of experience at Alias Production, as well as collaborations with Eurockde Belfort, Bataclan, Flèche d'Or and other production structures, he brings cutting-edge expertise and in-depth knowledge of the sector. Today, he puts his know-how at the service of the development and success of Live Nation events.

Malika Séguineau
Executive director of Ekhoscenes

A sectoral vision as close as possible to VSEs, SMEs and large groups.

Malika Séguineau is the executive director of Ekhoscenes. She is also an administrator of the National Music Council (CNM) and a member of the High Council for Equality between Women and Men (HCE).

Previously, Malika was a legal journalist at the Wolters Kluwer group (Liaisons Sociales) and wrote books on social law.

Malika graduated with a master's degree in private law from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, she pursued a doctorate in private law, and taught at the University.

Malika has promoted various programs within Ekhoscenes, beyond the union's traditional missions: a program in favor of Women Managers, an “HR Campus” for managers, a Les Ekhos reflection cycle, whose 1st edition was held in June 2024, on the relationship between work and employment in the entertainment industry.

She is also involved in an association that supports high school students from rural areas and small towns in their orientation. Coming from this rural France, knowing difficulties and self-censorship, Malika is committed to helping young people in building an ambitious personal career. Malika is also involved in students who are interested in the sector, she works in many schools, and wants to open up businesses to more diversity.

Within Ekhoscenes, its ambition is to represent, support, strengthen and promote entertainment entrepreneurs who give emotion everywhere in France.
